No Off Days. As of tonight, 13 of 16 postseason series will have reached the completion of the first two games in hockey and hoops. We’ve got some interesting baseball developments already, and it’s NFL Draft week in Pittsburgh. Even Maximus Decimus Meridious is pleased with the early playoff pace!
The playoffs in any sport bring some of the most incredible moments, high and low.
Say whatever we want about tanking, formats, or whatever else sounds good to complain about at the current time. Maybe it’s the length? Maybe it’s the first month of multiple, high-level games in both sports, every damn night. The most fun time of the year for me is right now. Coming off March Madness, The Masters, and now the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the NBA Playoffs. Even WrestleMania weekend mixed in, which to be honest…was just ok.
The scene in Buffalo on Sunday Night is exactly why this 2 month ride we have just embarked on is so special. The Sabers, Ducks, Mammoth, Spurs, and Blazers are all in the playoffs. What year is this? What the hell is a “Mammoth” anyway? New blood. Old blood with a new attitude. The Pistons are the team to beat in the East. The Thunder were just as good as last year. The Montreal Canadiens look like a legitimate threat. Throw in your usual suspects: Jokic, MacKinnon, McDavid, LeBron, amongst others, and we have another powder keg of moments that will unfold right in front of our Multi-View and Multi-Screen setups until mid-summer.
Do yourself a favor. Pick a night, literally any night, and watch the home openers for some of these teams we haven’t seen in these positions in a while. Watch a team, especially in hockey, that you don’t typically watch. Do it with your surround sound at 50 and feel these moments.
The vibes from the KeyBank Center were screaming through my TV Sunday Night. Buffalo, I felt you 2,248 miles away. Don’t stop!
This is why we love sports. For days and nights, exactly like this.

💲 Don’t know if you are aware of this yet, but Mason Miller is really good at throwing a baseball. Entering the Padres series tonight at Colorado, Miller’s line looks like a video game: 11.1 IP, 1 W, 8 S, 2 H, 2BB, 27K. He is at a mind-blowing 21.4 K/9 ratio. It’s been 23 years since a closer last won the Cy Young (Eric Gagne). He opened the year at +10000. He is now +1600, and I’m all over it, because he is pacing to SMASH 2003 EG.
💲 With the NBA East first round underway, I found it interesting that after game 1’s were done, the market is favoring a Boston/Cleveland conference final. So naturally, I took Detroit to make the Eastern Conference Finals at +160. At the time, Detroit’s first game with Orlando was in the mid-3rd quarter. This Pistons team is way more dangerous to me than Cleveland.
