Cup Runneth Over: I have to give Vegas Mack credit again for this one. “If your sports plate isn’t full right now, that’s your problem.” So many things. So many stories. It’s Kentucky Derby week as well!

Tip of the Cap

We’ve reached the reality point of the postseason where teams start getting clipped, and seasons come to an end. The Kings on Sunday took the second out of the postseason, joining the Ottawa Senators, the Suns, and the Penguins, soon to follow.

Sunday in Los Angeles, though, it also marked the end of Anze Kopitar's legendary career. In today’s day and age, staying with a franchise for one contract term is few and far between. Two decades with one franchise is almost unheard of. Five times an All Star, two times a Selke winner, three times a Byng winner. The first Slovenian player in league history and a two-time Stanley Cup Champion.

Kopitar’s impact goes long past the stats, and that list goes far longer than what’s listed above. His impact with the Kings and his loss will be long felt for the franchise.

Kopitar is a one of one. A throwback, if you will. I’d be lying if I said his final salute to the home crowd as he left the ice didn’t catch me in the feels a bit. Coming from someone who was born to despise Los Angeles sports from a personal fandom standpoint, that shows the impact that he’s had on sports in general.

Hats off to you, 11, one of the best to ever lace up skates.

💲 Remember, I was crazy when I said I thought the playoffs were a strong possibility for the Pirates? They’re still at +120 to make the playoffs. They have the pitching. They have the offense. Bob Nutting is their only hurdle. Next 7 against Central foes too.

💲 Jose Soriano is absolutely on fire to start the season for the Angels. The Halos lineup is talented and explosive. At 5-0 with a 0.24 ERA heading into his next start Tuesday on the Southside of Chicago, Soriano is +700 to win the AL Cy Young. He won’t be at that price on Wednesday morning. *I’m also backing him and the Angels on the run line (-1.5) on Tuesday

💲 Montreal eh? While I don’t like their potential second-round matchup with Buffalo, and the extra hockey they’ve already had to play in the postseason, this Canadiens team is damn good. I still believe they knock off Tampa Bay in the first round. They’re +1300 to win the East today and still +2800 to win the Cup. The pathway to the Cup is a tad more daunting. I’m not waiting any longer for the Eastern Conference Champions play.
